HE PASSED ON A CAREER AS A BUTCHER AND FOLLOWED HIS LOVE OF MUSIC INSTEAD. HE’S ANTONIN DVORAK AND HE’S FEATURED THIS MONTH ON CLASSICS FOR KIDS   His father was a butcher and wanted him to be a butcher as well. But music called him, so he became a church organist with hopes of composing. Antonin Dvorak won a government sponsored composition contest and eventually taught composition at the Prague Conservatory. He wrote nine symphonies in his lifetime and he’s the August Classics for Kids composer.
