Davy Crockett (1786–1836)

An American frontiersman, Crockett served under Andrew Jackson in the War of 1812, before becoming a political opponent of Jackson's. Crockett served three terms in Congress in his home state of Tennessee, where his off-color language and backwoods humor made him popular with his constituents, until he was unseated from Congress in 1835. Crockett moved to Texas and died heroically in defense of the Alamo.
