iContact Free Trial FAQ's: Creating and Sending Email

Many of our current 15 Day Free Trial Users have contacted us with questions regarding how to better create and send email newsletters. We would like to take this opportunity to address the most frequent questions we've received so far. How Exactly Do I Send a Message? I'm Having Difficulty Formatting Messages. Do You Know Why? How Exactly Do I Send a Message? The most common questions we receive are related to creating messages. You can find assitance in the 12 easy steps referenced below. If you would like further guidance as you progress through the steps, we encourage you to try the iContact Assist feature. The iContact Assist feature is located on the first page you see upon log in. It is in the upper left-hand corner under the four tabs. When you click on one of the available tutorials, iContact Assist guides you through the selected process as you follow along. You can find step-by-step instructions on how to create a message in the iContact help system here. I'm Having Difficulty Formatting Messages. Do You Know Why? It is critical to understand that email messages are HTML based, and quite dissimilar to MS Word -based documents. Your current knowledge of HTML and web design should indicate which method of email message creation will be best for you, as there are multiple approaches. Worry not! Regardless of your level of expertise, iContact provides a simple way for you to easily create HTML messages. Using MessageBuilder: Recommended Level of HTML Knowledge: No HTML knowledge is needed. If you do not have the HTML knowledge to create your messages from scratch, you can choose one of the 375+ stock templates we have already created. These templates are available when you use our MessageBuilder system. You can find detailed instructions on how to create a message using MessageBuilder here. From Scratch: Recommended Level of HTML Knowledge: Some HTML knowledge is needed. This option is only recommended for those users with knowledge of HTML formatting and practices. This option lets you create your message entirely from scratch in the Message Editor you have chosen for your account. When you select this option, you will be presented with a blank message in the Message Editor. You can find detailed instructions on how to create a message from scratch here. Copy and Paste: Recommended Level of HTML Knowledge: Some HTML knowledge is needed. This option is also only recommended for those users with prior knowledge of HTML formatting and practices. This option lets you paste the HTML code of your completed message from an external HTML editor into a message in your iContact account. This option will not display any message editor.
