APRIL’S FEATURED COMPOSER IS THE MAN WHO WROTE THE FAMOUS “FLIGHT OF THE BUMBLEBEE”…NIKOLAI RIMSKY-KORSAKOV   He’s the man behind the famous “Flight of the Bumblebee,” but he also wrote operas, chamber music, choral music and piano pieces. Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov was born in Russia, followed his older brother into the Navy, and wrote his first symphony while on a Navy ship. He then studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, which is now named for him.

He became a priest, but his asthma kept him from saying Mass so he concentrated on composing and teaching. His most famous composition is “The Four Seasons.”
